SupaSoft supports Damp and Mould Action Awareness Week
What is the Damp & Mould Action Awareness Week?
Now in its 3rd consecutive year, Damp & Mould Action and Awareness Week launches on 19 October 2026, this industry wide initiative is led by aico the European market leader in home life safety and centres on 3 core objectives:
Educate: Address root causes, such as inadequate ventilation, structural dampness, and condensation, to implement lasting solutions.
Empower: Supply clear guidance and accessible channels that give residents the confidence to report early signs of damp.
Innovate: Deploy proactive technology, including real-time environmental sensors and smart monitoring, to detect risk factors before mould develops.
More than 60% of people in the UK have experienced mould problems in their homes. The campaign aims to bring together social housing providers, landlords, local authorities and trade professionals to drive meaningful change, improve living conditions and help ensure compliance across the sector.
How Insulation helps prevent Damp & Mould
At SupaSoft we believe that insulation has an important role to play in preventing damp & mould in your home. Choosing the right insulation, together with good ventilation and understanding how moisture moves through a building can all contribute to a healthier home.
SupaSoft helps reduce heat loss, keeping internal surfaces warmer and making condensation – and therefore mould – less likely to occur. Insulating your loft with SupaSoft can provide thermal performance comparable to laying a 75-tog duvet across your home, helping to trap warmth efficiently.
SupaSoft is also vapour open, which means it allows water vapour to pass through the insulation rather than acting as a vapour barrier. This can help reduce the risk of moisture becoming trapped within the building fabric.
Why good insulation matters for a healthy home
SupaSoft Managing Director and Chair of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products Mark Lynn said, “It’s great to see this awareness week taking place, but we need to reach a point quickly where damp and mould are front and centre in our thinking. Poorly installed insulation has rightly received a lot of negative attention in relation to mould, but we mustn’t lose sight of the fact that good insulation, installed correctly, can do a great deal of good for the home.”
By supporting the week, SupaSoft is helping to keep the issue in the spotlight and encourage people to look at the causes of damp and mould, not just the symptoms.
